Katie's CD, Full Blast Alive: Voices from the Ruby Side, features monologues from her entourage of five female characters who hail from around the globe. Sporting a wild medley of accents and attitudes, Katie's characters include a 15 year-old Irish girl who gets a wild sustenance from dancing to a Stevie Wonder song on the transistor radio, a tough Long Island woman avenging the breast cancer rampant in her neighborhood by crashing a party to single-handedly take on the pharmaceutical-chemical industry, and a French woman who overcomes her jealousy by joining the circus and trapezing her way to liberation. Listen to Brigid Mulrooney at 15 for a sampling.

"This is one you don't want to miss," says Michael Salinger, author of Neon and Education Director of Poetry Slam Incorporated. "Katie is dialectically ambidextrous...it's kind of like the poetic equivalent of channeling. Really interesting stuff, and wonderfully entertaining."

Chapbooks

Red Hot Mangoes and Voodoo Juice (2000) offers up an array of hungry poems and spark-throwing monologues, including "Moving In, Provence", "Katerina's Cure for Jealousy", and "The Forty-fifth Accordion". (Red Hot Mangoes and Voodoo Juice is available for $5 plus $2 shipping.)

Coyote at the Wheel (2003) explores the surreal interplay of personal-political relationships in these absurd and disturbing times. Among other poems, the book features "Deliverances", "A Break in the Weather", "Life, Death and a Piano Tuner", and "Partisan". (Coyote at the Wheel is available for $5 plus $2 shipping.)

Venus and the Hitchhikers (2007) features a tangy narrative about Venus and her right-hand man Pan, who are rowing around the world in a bright red boat in their efforts to spread some love salve on the 21st century's first bloom of greed, fear and loneliness. They stop for some R&R in Provincetown, Massachusetts, a pansexual fishing village at the tip and cultural edge of America. You can read an excerpt of this piece on the Poems page as well as two other poems from the chapbook: "Shoplifting in Provincetown, 1974" and "Pre-emptive Strike". An audio-music version of "Caravan," a poem included in the chapbook, can be heard on the Audio Poems page. (Venus and the Hitchhikers is available for $7 plus $2 shipping.)
